Molded Desiccant Products

ProMed specializes in injection molded silicone desiccants that blend the properties of silicone rubber with zeolite desiccant, creating durable moisture adsorbing components.

Molded desiccants are ideal for protecting tightly packed electronics including medical devices, weapons systems, sensors, and circuit boards. They can have complex geometries and act as moisture getters, shock absorbers, and thermal insulators.

Silicone desiccants operate at a wide range of temperatures (<-50 to >200°C) and are effective in low humidity environments. Desiccant products can be custom formulated from liquid silicone rubber (LSR), room temperature vulcanizing silicone (RTV), or high consistency rubber (HCR), with varying amounts of 3Å or 4Å molecular sieve. Most silicone desiccants can exceed 10% moisture adsorption by weight and are low off-gassing.

Silicone desiccant products can also be used for non-desiccant applications including gas permeation (i.e. removing water from alcohol), antimicrobial products, and capturing undesirable molecules like environmental toxins and organics. ProMed has developed production processes for high and low-volume applications ranging from 10-10,000 parts per month. Desiccants are available activated and ready-to-use.
