Puerto Rico Silicone Injection Molding

ProMed has specialized in cleanroom manufacturing of components, assemblies, the medical industry since 1989. With the addition of our Caribe facility, we can now offer a tax credit benefit when our local customers purchase from us. Our new product development team with 20 dedicated engineers on staff gives our customers the opportunities to deal directly with our facility instead of always going through our US based facility. ProMed has dedicated all of the resources necessary at our Caribe facility to not only provide a local and lower cost solution, but also the highest quality Puerto Rico silicone injection molding supplier for the medical industry.

Hurricane Maria - Update

On September 20th 2017, Hurricane Maria ascended upon the island of Puerto Rico.  ProMed’s facility in Dorado suffered minor damage during the storm and we are working diligently to restore service.  We are writing to inform you of the actions we have taken to date.

On Tuesday September 19th 2017, ProMed Caribe performed an orderly shutdown of the facility.  All tooling was placed into water proof cases and all clean room equipment was wrapped in plastic.  WIP and Finished Goods inventory were doubled bagged.  As a precautionary measure, critical tooling for some customer’s parts was transferred ahead of the storm to ProMed Minneapolis.  The ProMed Minneapolis team is working with our customer’s Quality Teams to assure the tooling is re-qualified, where appropriate, and notifications are approved by our customers before resuming production of affected parts in Minneapolis.

On Thursday September 21st 2017, our Caribe facility was inspected and restarted using our Emergency Generator system.  We discovered one minor rain water leak in an office area.  The integrity of our cleanrooms was not impacted and no significant amount of water entered our facility.  All equipment, tooling, WIP and Finished Goods were unaffected.

As of today, we continue to operate the facility on Emergency Generator power.  We have secured a sustainable supply of fuel and resumed production operations where possible.  We have an open Preventive Action (PA) and we are following our Emergency Action Plan (EAP) to ensure the integrity of our operations and quality of your parts.  The island is still without water and we do not have a sustainable water source available to wash parts.   Therefore, parts that require washing are temporarily unavailable while we work toward a solution for this issue.

Our Quality Team will prepare a detailed assessment and report for any of your parts manufactured in our Caribe facility.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Charles Padovani – General Manager, Caribe Operations
Peter Mangan – President
Robert Parsons – Vice President, Quality Assurance
Craig Morris – Business Unit Manager, Silicone Products
